How to Add Favicon in Blogger - My Widget House

Favicon is the icon which is used to identify any website or blog form many tabs in any browser. This Favicon may be the logo of the blog or website. And it is very necessary to add in any website. Because it will help you to stand out among many websites opened in any browser.

Mostly bloggers think that Favicon can't be added in the Blogspot. And they are using the Favicon of Blogger by default. But they are doing wrong if they are doing so. Because we can add the custom Favicon in the Blogspot.

As you can see the white Favicon appearing in the tab of My Widget House. And you can identify us among several tabs. You could also be identified among several blogs and websites among many tabs.

We need to understand first about the Favicon. Then we will add a Favicon in our blog or website to give it a more professional look.

What is Favicon?

Favicon is the small icon with 16x16 pixels of image which may be the website logo. This Favicon is also called as website, url or tab icon. Because we identify the website or url in any tab with the help of Favicon.

Adding a Favicon in Blogger

It is very simple to add a Favicon in a Blogspot. You need to follow the following steps.

Step 1

We need to prepare the Favicon in the first step. If you are a graphics designer then prepare a 16x16 pixels png file of your icon. Which should be below 100 KB in size.

And if you are not a graphics designer then simply. Visit the website favicon.cc to make the custom Favicon for you.

Step 2

After making your Favicon. Login to your Blogger Account.

Step 3

Click on the Layout in the left side bar of your dashboard. And click on Edit in the Favicon Gadget. As shown in the picture below.

Step 4

Now Click on Choose File in the new popup window. And click on Save button below.

Step 5

You have successfully uploaded a Favicon in your blog just click on Save Arrangement in the top menu of Layout page.

You should remember the following things in adding Favicon to your Blogspot:

• After uploading Favicon to a blog. It don't displays instantly. You should not worry about this.
• Favicon size should be 16x16 px.
• File size should be less then 100 KB.
• The Blogger accept only square images for Favicon.
• Using png format for Favicon looks more professional.
